Delta Airlines Fuel Dump

On January 14 2020, a Delta Airlines Boeing 777 jet (Delta Flight 89) was scheduled to fly from Los Angeles to Shanghai. Soon after take-off of the 13-hour, 6,500-mile flight, the pilots of Flight 89 declared an emergency, reportedly due to a compressor stall, and initiated a return to LAX.

During the return to LAX the plane dumped over 15,000 gallons of jet fuel (over 100,000 pounds), including at altitudes significantly below the standard 5,000 ft. This caused thousands of pounds of liquid jet fuel to land on people and properties throughout Los Angeles.

The X-Law Group has been appointed as Class Counsel to represent approximately 37,000 homes and 225,000 individuals that were affected by the impact of the liquid jet fuel upon their properties.

Boeing 737 Max

On October 29, 2018, Lion Air Flight JT 610 took off from Jakarta. Shortly after takeoff, in the instants after liftoff, the plane began experiencing control issues as a result of the faulty MCAS (Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System) software aboard the plane. The MCAS software had been surreptitiously installed by Boeing on the aircraft and the pilots were not aware of its existence. For the next 11 minutes the plane was, practically speaking, in a fight for its own survival with pilots fighting a computer system they didn't even know existed.

The MCAS system continuously overrode the pilots' actions until the plane crashed. There were no survivors. The X-Law Group is representing a family in its pursuit for justice.

Fallout 4 DLC - Class Action

Bethesda Softworks and parent company Zenimax Media are facing a class-action lawsuit concerning the DLC (downloadable content) for Fallout 4. The action was launched in 2019 by The X-Law Group and revolves around Fallout 4's Season Pass, which was sold before the game's release with the following promise: “To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30 [...] Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you’ll get it all with the Season Pass.”

That seems pretty unambiguous, and Fallout 4 was released with the Season Pass in 2015 to great commercial success. Then, in 2017, Bethesda announced the launch of the Bethesda Creation Club: “a collection of all-new content for both Fallout 4 and Skyrim. It features new items, abilities, and gameplay created by Bethesda Games Studios and outside development partners including the best community creators. Creation Club content is fully curated and compatible with the main game and official add-ons.” The Creation Club content was not included in the Fallout 4 Season Pass.

The X-Law Group's suit, brought on behalf of a class of consumers, is that players like X-Law's client were deceived, and that Bethesda is drawing a distinction between Fallout 4 DLC and Creation Club content that doesn't really exist.

Los Angeles D.W.P

Following the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power ("LADWP") settlement in the Antwon Jones class action (a lawsuit pertaining to the overbilling by LADWP of millions of its ratepayers) a separate lawsuit uncovered collusive behavior between the City of Los Angeles and the lawyers representing Antwon Jones in the Jones class action against the city.

The X-Law Group filed a class action in 2019 in federal court against the city, and numerous attorneys involved in the Jones lawsuit, alleging professional malpractice, unjust enrichment and more. Our client, a Los Angeles renter and DWP customer, received a credit to his December 2017 bill as part of the Jones settlement. In his suit Bradshaw alleges that Jones’ attorneys and the city colluded to deprive class members of their rights in that case.

Bonilla v.s CA D.O.T

Chris Bonilla was a successful amateur fighter that had just made his professional MMA debut. Considered one of the best fighters in the world, Bonilla held, at the time of the accident, an amateur world championship belt. Unfortunately, Bonilla was involved in a serious car accident in 2018, which severed Bonilla's leg. The extent of the injuries is entirely attributable to a freeway cement barrier that had been left unprotected by the construction company working on the freeway.

With his career over and facing a life without a leg, he turned to The X-Law Group for his fight.

Power Balance

In 2011, Power Balance, a company that made wristbands and other products that were supposed to enhance athletic performance through the use of holograms, settled a Class Action alleging consumer fraud for $57 million. The lawsuit alleged that the company made false claims about the effectiveness of their products and misled consumers.

The X-Law Group, was lead counsel in the case against Power Balance and helped the Class obtain a favorable settlement. The company filed for bankruptcy shortly thereafter.

Venice Boardwalk

On August 3, 2013, a peaceful summer day at the Venice Beach Boardwalk in Los Angeles, turned into a horrific tragedy when a driver rammed his car through a crowd of pedestrians, killing one and injuring several others. The incident sent shockwaves through the community and garnered national attention, raising questions about safety measures on the boardwalk and how to prevent similar tragedies from happening again.

The X-Law Group represented several of the injured parties in a lawsuit against the driver and against the city of los angeles. The City settled and The X-Law Group subsequently obtained a $60 million dollar judgment on behalf of its clients against the driver of the vehicle.
